Misty Sunrise Journey

This morning as I left my driveway to go work, I could see that the sunrise sky was going to be spectacular. I decided on the spot to travel along the coastal road rather than my usual highway route to give myself a treat. Below are a few photos I took along the way. The cove photo above was taken near 6pm on my way back home. Click on it to enlarge to enjoy the autumn colours.

Done In

You may have noticed that this hasn't been a daily blog in awhile. I'm a teacher and I always find the beginning weeks of school simply exhausting. Many mornings I'm on the run & can't take for a photo. Many evenings I'm not home until after dark. I'll still get to the cove often enough to view the incremental changes. In the meantime, I'm really enjoying catching interesting skyscapes on my way to work. Below is one from this morning.

Thankful

It's Thanksgiving Day (Columbus Day for my US of A friends) and a beauty here in Hubbards, Nova Scotia. I'm thankful for family & friends, near & far. I am thankful to live near the ocean with big skies to view everyday. My next blog might have to be about skies. Below is a photo taken looking up my driveway on this Thanksgiving morning.

Both of these photos were taken early this morning. The one below was taken on my morning commute. It was taken through the wind shield, one handed, while going 100kph. Not bad, huh? It's probably a good thing the comment feature on blogger isn't working.

Theodore Tugboat

Theodore Tugboat was tied up at the Hubbards Waterfront wharf today. Even though it was raining cats & dogs, we went to see him and take photos; the we being myself, my daughter & grand daughter. Above is the usual photo of the cove & below is a close up of Theodore. While I was at the waterfront I took a photo of the cove from that view as well. You can see the autumn colours starting to show even though it doesn't feel a bit like autumn today. Warm, wet and windy conditions prevail.

I just realized after publishing this post and looking at both photos, you might not realize that the photos were taken minutes apart and from the same location. The cove shot is looking west, while the tree shot is looking south. Quite a different sky in each!

Unusual

This was taken on my way to work this morning, which I don't usually take time to do. Equally unusual was that the mist was rising from the river flowing into the cove rather than the waters from the bay, so I took the photo from the opposite side of the cove. I just love those tenders all nestled up together in the stillness of morning.
On a personal note, I learned recently that an old friend, living in California, checks my blog everyday. Hi Wendy & thank you!

After Labour Day

If you look at photos # 52 & 53 you'll notice they are almost the same in composition but the colour is very different. They were taken 2 days apart and at different times of day, if remembered correctly. # 52 was taken a bit later in the morning than #53. There were no photos taken yesterday, Labour Day. I spent a busy and pleasant day with the family, late morning & early afternoon at the beach, late afternoon & evening at the Atlantic Fringe Festival.

Shining Waters and First September Evening

Where did August go? The older I get the faster time passes or at least it seems that way, but this summer even the youngins are commenting on the flight of summer. That's OK because autumn is beautiful too.
This was a spectacular view of shining ocean waters from Gold River. The photo doesn't quite do the experience justice
