How Sweet It Is
Hubbards Cove August 27, 2012
photo #46
My last day of vacation and it was glorious! Spent the late afternoon on Hubbards Beach sunning and swimming. (Contented sigh) To make the day a little sweeter our youngest offspring is winging his way home, as I type, for a week's visit. (More contentment) I feel so lucky to live at this time, in this place, surrounded by the people I love. Life is great!

Owl Sighting
Hubbards Cove August 26, 2012
photo #45
The cove photo is from early evening and the photo below was taken after sunset. My husband and I were driving on the Mersey Road when an owl flew out a tree and just sailed ahead of us for a bit. It went into a small clearing but as we approached it again flew out in front of our vehicle, as though it were guiding us out of the forest. It sat on a branch on the side of the road so we tried to get a photo of it. There wasn't much light or time, so this is the best we could do.

I cropped this photo for a better view of these two boats tied up to each other in the cove for the evening. I love that boaters do this.

Sunrise Helpers
Hubbards Cove August 23,2012
photo #42
The first two photos were taken mid morning (10:30?) and as you can see it's shaping up to be another beach day. I felt it only fair to include a shot of Queensland Beach in the sun, since the last one I took was rather foggy. Check out my First Fog posting on August 5th to compare the difference.
The bottom photo was taken by my daughter and her early waking daughter. They took a sunrise drive, so as not to wake us this morning. Thank you Laura and Brynn!

Skies, Fog & Sparkles
Hubbards Cove August 19,2012
photo #38
This photo was taken from a floating dock below the Dauphinee Inn. If you look between the orange and white boats and then raise your gaze a bit, you'll see the place from where I took the last 2 days photos. I think I've covered 4 different views now, even though my original plan was to stand in the same place everyday. The light and the skies call me to seek out different views from time to time. I think I'll stick with these 4 views though.
Below is a view out to the bay. I was struck by the first wisps of fog creeping in and the way the late afternoon sun was creating a sparkling effect on the water.

Still There
Hubbards Cove August 18, 2012

Today is the Annual Boaters Rendezvous sponsored by the Hubbards Waterfront Association. (www.hubbardscove.ca) If I had waited until later in the day you'd see even more boats in the cove.
Below is a day #2 photo of the spider that had taken up residence on my back deck. I went out to take a photo this morning to find he s/he had packed up and moved on.

Today & Yesterday
Hubbards Cove August 17, 2012
photo #36
This is a new view of the cove & is dedicated to my friend Anne. She has this glorious view from her front windows everyday. I didn't take a photo of the cove yesterday but I did capture the spider, below, who was lounging about on my back deck in the early morning. These big spiders are a sure sign that August is on the wane.

Stillness
Hubbards Cove August 15, 2012
photo #35
It was hard to decide which photo to use this morning. I settled on these two. In the one above I love the nestle of the tenders and their reflections in the water. Below I turned just slightly to the left & zoomed in, then I enhanced the photo before posting it. Such a still morning.

Reflections and Fairy Tents
Hubbards Cove August 10, 2012
photo #32
The last of the morning fog had just burned off leaving the cove mirror like. I love the reflections. The other thing I noticed this morning is that there were many fairy tents on the grass. The ones below were in my yard. Maybe there's someone out there that has another explanation for these creations. Please share if you do.

Subtle Sunset
Hubbards Cove August 9, 2012
photo #31
I took the cove picture from the mouth of the cove this evening because the sun was just beginning to set and the sky was such a subtle layer of colour from this view. I didn't get to the beach yesterday as planned but lucky for me we enjoyed perfect beach weather again today. See below for photos of Hubbards Beach.
I also took this picture of the Dauphinee Inn. If you've been following my blog you've probably noticed it in some of the other photos. If you're in Hubbards and looking for a bite to eat, try the Tuna Blue Bar & Grill, at the Dauphinee. Enjoy great patio seating overlooking the cove and see these scenes for yourself.

Foggy Morning
Hubbards Cove August 7, 2012
photo #29
No editing was done to this photo. It wasn't really this dark at 9:30 am but I love the feel, so calm and soft. Below is a slightly different view that I cropped and "enhanced" using my photo software. Which one do you like best?

Skies Afternoon and Evening
Hubbards Cove August 6, 2012
photo #28
Taken late afternoon on my way home from a family tea visit. Sometimes I take multiple photos and then choose my favourite for the blog. This time I had my, not quite 2 years old grand daughter with me, so it was point, click and leave. I'm so pleasantly surprised to see how lovely the sky looks!

Since I didn't trust my first photo and because it was such a beautiful evening, my husband and I walked down to take more photos as the sun was setting. Interesting how there's more light in the sky even though it's later in the day. Then I got a little obsessed with the beauty of the sky and took a few photos straight up. I hope you enjoy them.

First Fog
Hubbards Cove August 5, 2012
photo #27
This fog photo is dedicated to Loriann, my best friend and inspiration for this blog. It's hard to believe that this is the first time there has been fog in the cove in 27 days. I took a couple of other fog photos too. Have a look!
I love the contrast between the roses and the fog. This little rose bush has been blooming for at least 27 days. I would never had noticed how long it blooms if I hadn't been taking a photo everyday.
This is the fog on Queensland beach, just a short drive from Hubbards. It was really rolling in there but didn't see to be deterring the beach goers at all. There were many people on the beach and in the water. The day did start off with clear, turquoise skies and hot temps.
